Hall Anchor is a stockless cast steel anchor designed for commercial ships, fishing vessels, tugboats, barges, and offshore support vessels. The anchor consists of a shank, crown, and two pivoting flukes, allowing the flukes to rotate and penetrate the seabed during anchoring. Standard weights range from 25 kg to 30,000 kg, with larger sizes available upon request. Manufactured from marine-grade cast steel, the anchor is suitable for use with stud link or studless anchor chains and can be supplied with approvals from ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, LR, NK, KR, RINA, and RS.
Hall Anchor is one of the earliest stockless anchors adopted for commercial shipping and remains widely used on cargo vessels, tankers, fishing boats, workboats, dredgers, and offshore support vessels. The anchor consists of a cast steel shank, anchor crown, and two movable flukes connected through a pivot arrangement. During anchoring, the flukes rotate to penetrate the seabed and develop holding force, while the stockless design allows the anchor to be housed completely inside the ship's hawse pipe.
Hall Anchors are manufactured from marine-grade cast steel using casting, heat treatment, machining, dimensional inspection, and proof testing processes. Standard products are available from 25 kg to 30,000 kg, covering applications from small working vessels to large commercial ships. The anchor is suitable for operation in sand, clay, mud, gravel, and mixed seabed conditions and is commonly used with stud link or studless anchor chains as part of complete anchoring systems.
Compared with stocked anchors, the stockless Hall Anchor occupies less storage space, simplifies anchor handling, and is compatible with modern bow anchoring arrangements. It remains one of the most commonly specified stockless anchors for merchant vessels built in accordance with international classification society rules.
