Baldt Anchor is a conventional stockless marine anchor designed for commercial ships, naval vessels, and offshore applications. The anchor features a balanced shank and two large pivoting flukes that penetrate efficiently into sand and mud while allowing compact storage inside the ship's hawse pipe or anchor pocket. Standard weights range from 90 kg to 18,140 kg, with larger sizes available upon request. Manufactured from marine-grade cast steel, the anchor can be supplied with certification from ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, LR, NK, KR, RINA, IRS, and RS.
Baldt Anchor is a stockless bow anchor originally developed in the United States and widely used on merchant ships and naval vessels. Similar in operating principle to Hall and Spek anchors, the Baldt Anchor incorporates two pivoting flukes connected to a cast steel crown and shank. The balanced geometry enables the flukes to rotate quickly into the seabed during deployment while allowing the complete anchor to stow neatly inside modern anchor pockets after recovery.
The anchor is manufactured from marine-grade cast steel (ZG200-400 or equivalent) through casting, heat treatment, machining, dimensional inspection, and proof load testing. Standard production covers nominal weights from 90 kg to 18,140 kg, while custom dimensions and heavier anchors can be produced according to vessel specifications. Surface finishes include black tarred painting and hot-dip galvanizing for corrosion protection in marine environments.
The Baldt Anchor performs effectively on sand, mud, clay, and mixed seabeds. Its stockless construction simplifies anchor handling and storage compared with traditional stocked anchors, making it suitable for modern commercial vessels equipped with bow anchor pockets. The anchor is compatible with stud link anchor chains, end shackles, Kenter shackles, and swivel groups to form a complete anchoring system.

Manufacturing Standards: Manufactured from marine-grade cast steel in accordance with IACS Unified Requirement A1, ISO 1704, and the applicable manufacturing and inspection requirements of ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, LR, NK, KR, RINA, IRS, and RS. Products are manufactured through approved casting, heat treatment, machining, and dimensional inspection processes.
Testing Standards: Each anchor undergoes chemical composition verification, casting inspection, dimensional inspection, proof load testing, mechanical property testing, heat treatment verification, visual inspection, magnetic particle inspection (MPI) where applicable, suspension testing, and permanent identification marking before shipment. Material certificates, inspection reports, and classification society certificates are available upon request.
Application Standards: Suitable for container ships, bulk carriers, general cargo vessels, oil tankers, naval vessels, offshore support vessels, dredgers, and other commercial ships operating on sand, mud, clay, and mixed seabeds. The stockless design is intended for vessels equipped with modern bow anchor pockets and standard stud link anchor chain systems.
Maintenance Standards: Inspect the anchor regularly for fluke wear, shank deformation, pivot pin wear, casting defects, corrosion, coating damage, and identification markings. Verify that the flukes rotate freely without excessive clearance. Inspection and maintenance should comply with the vessel's planned maintenance program and the requirements of the applicable classification society.
