HDG Folding Anchor Type A is a four-fluke grapnel anchor manufactured for portable anchoring applications where storage space is limited. Unlike fixed-fluke anchors, the four anchor arms fold alongside the shank and are secured by a sliding locking collar during transport. Before use, the collar is released to allow the flukes to open into the working position, providing multiple contact points with the seabed.

The anchor is manufactured from welded carbon steel and finished by hot-dip galvanizing (HDG). During the galvanizing process, the steel is immersed in molten zinc at approximately 450°C, forming a metallurgical zinc coating that provides corrosion protection for marine service.

Standard products are available in weights from 0.7 kg to 12 kg, with custom sizes available for special applications. The anchor is commonly used on inflatable boats, dinghies, kayaks, canoes, personal watercraft, and small fishing boats. It performs effectively on sand, mud, gravel, weed, coral, and rocky bottoms, where the multiple flukes can engage irregular seabed surfaces.
