Industrial logistics operations lift transformers, generators, machinery and fabricated modules between trucks, trailers, warehouses, vessels and production sites. A chain sling is rated for lifting during loading, unloading and positioning. It is not automatically a road or sea cargo-restraint system.
Lifting WLL must not be confused with the lashing capacity of a rated lashing chain, binder or tie-down assembly. After placement on a vehicle or frame, restraint must be designed separately for the applicable transport forces and rules.
Selection begins with verified cargo mass, centre of gravity, rated lifting points, transport-frame design, crane-hook dimensions, headroom, hitch and sling-leg angle. A skid or frame may be lifted only through points designed for the complete loaded mass.
Single-leg slings suit one engineered point. Two-leg slings serve equipment with two rated points. Three- or four-leg assemblies serve machinery bases and modules with multiple points.
Multi-leg use does not guarantee equal sharing. Unequal point heights, a rigid frame or offset centre of gravity can concentrate force in fewer legs. Asymmetric lifts require qualified assessment.
TOPONE G80 adjustable chain slings allow each reach to be set before loading, helping position the crane hook over the verified centre of gravity. Use only designated shortening components; never twist, knot or bolt-shorten chain.
Transformers, generators and machines must be lifted only from designated points, not covers, guards, piping or unrated transport brackets. Long modules may require an engineered lifting or spreader beam with compatible shackles.
Steel coils usually require an approved coil lifter, C-hook or engineered beam. Do not pass chain through a coil eye or wrap it around finished cargo unless the approved lift plan permits that method. Protect painted, machined or sharp surfaces with a suitable engineered interface.
WLL applies to the complete sling and is limited by its lowest-rated component. Leg tension rises as chain moves farther from vertical. Use the WLL for the exact configuration and angle.
Verified TOPONE catalog example for 16 mm G80 adjustable assemblies:
Single leg: 7.80 t
Two legs, up to 45° from vertical: 10.92 t
Two legs, over 45° and up to 60°: 7.80 t
Three or four legs, up to 45°: 16.38 t
Three or four legs, over 45° and up to 60°: 11.70 t
These values apply only to the stated TOPONE assemblies and cannot be transferred to another hitch or component combination. Do not estimate capacity above 60°. The catalogued safety factor is 4:1, but WLL remains the maximum working load.
TOPONE G80 assemblies are catalogued to EN 818-4. They use Grade 8 short-link alloy-steel chain with compatible master links, connectors, shortening components and hooks.
The catalog describes components as forged from special quenched-and-tempered alloy steel and marked with specification, grade and traceability code.
Surface options include polishing, black oxide, plastic coating, galvanizing and painting. Select the finish for the handling environment. Coating does not increase WLL or eliminate inspection.
Hooks must seat in rated lifting points with load in the hook bowl. Tip, side and latch loading are not permitted. Master links must fit the crane hook without crowding, and shackles must be compatible with the sling and lifting point.
Before use, a competent person should verify identification and inspect links, welds, master links, connectors, shortening devices and hooks.
Wear, cracks, gouges, stretch, bending, corrosion, heat damage, damaged latches or enlarged hook openings require removal from service. Avoid shock loading, dragging and unapproved repair.
